How Much Is Rocket Lawyer?

The base level pricing to start an LLC online with Rocket Lawyer is $99.95 + State filing fee — and you can pay extra for added services. For example, it costs $60 to rush processing, $99 to add a Personalized Corporate Kit & Seal, and $149.95 to include Registered Agent Service.

We don’t have a problem with this site’s pricing, which is about average based on our reviews. It’s about $50 more than IncFile, our #1 choice, and $50 less than Legal Zoom, the highest-priced service in our top-five. However, we did find it a bit difficult to find LLC pricing on the Rocket Lawyer website. You have to enter a lot of personal information, including your name, email address, and physical address, before they give you pricing. Some users may not want to submit personal data just to find out how much a service costs. However, we suspect this practice is geared toward capturing user data for marketing purposes, which isn’t malicious — just frustrating.

What You Get

As noted earlier, you only get added features like Registered Agent Service and obtainment of an Employer Identification Number (EIN) by paying extra. Although, to be honest, we’re not really sure what you get with the base-level package, because we stopped entering data when the website asked for our payment information. (We tried looking in FAQs, too… but could not find a listing of the features anywhere on the website, over the course of writing this Rocket Lawyer review.)

How Fast?

The amount of time it takes to process your documents varies by state, and you can find a full listing of average turnaround times below. The process takes anywhere between 3 days and 5 weeks depending on the state you file in. You can pay a Rush fee of $60 and expedite processing, to receive documents much faster.

Bonus Features: Form an LLC for “Free”?

One thing we found interesting in this Rocket Lawyer review was its offer of free incorporation processing and Registered Agent Service, with a free one-week trial of the Rocket Lawyer Accelerate Plan. This sounds great — but is important to note that, if you don’t cancel your plan after one week, you will be billed $49.95 per month. This includes the ability to create legal documents yourself using Rocket Lawyer’s document library, and personal assistance on demand from a Rocket Lawyer’s On Call® attorney — a feature the company refers to as Document Defense™. Rocket Lawyer’s business model appears to focus on monthly services. The website’s Pricing page lists a $7.00 a month “Solo Plan,” as well as a $30.00 Premium Plan, in addition to the Accelerate Plan.

The Trust Factor

Based on the information found in this Rocket Lawyer review, the company appears to be a safe and trustworthy business. Rocket Lawyer Incorporated has been a BBB Accredited Business since 2006, and currently has an A+ rating despite having 160 complaints with the BBB in the last 3 years. The company boasts 20 million customers, and has branches in the U.S. and the U.K. In addition, the website is verified by Norton Secured. While several positive Rocket Lawyer reviews were found on the company’s website, it is worth noting that it only scored 3.5 stars on TrustPilot, where we found these Rocket Lawyer reviews.

Customer Service

Rocket Lawyer provides free customer support by phone or email. Customers who purchase monthly plans can also get support from attorneys.

The Big Picture

Rocket Lawyer could be a useful monthly service for individuals or businesses who need to create legal documents on a regular basis. However, for companies who wish to start an LLC online, we believe there are better options available—like our top choice, IncFile.
